Elizabeth A. Winterhalter Treasurer

D’Arcy Cornwall grew up in Reno, NV, came down to Santa Barbara for college and never left.  She graduated from UCSB, then attended Santa Barbara College of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in 1998.  She has lived in Summerland since 2001, dividing her time with Santa Barbara before becoming a full-time resident in 2018. She serves as president of Summerland Beautiful and is also an active member of the Summerland Citizens Association, previously serving on the board of CALM. Now retired, Cornwall enjoys volunteering, substitute teaching, and taking RV trips with her husband, Mark. In her free time, she can often be found golfing, walking her dog Casper, attending book club, or gathering with friends for afternoon get-togethers at The Nugget.

Elizabeth A. Winterhalter Treasurer

Elizabeth Winterhalter knew Summerland was for her when on her rental application

she wrote “Winterhalter needs to live in Summerland!” Her landlord agreed and she

moved in in 2009. Her welcome committee, a week later,  was a dolphin that did a fly by

when she was boogie boarding. That’s when she knew she was home! She

subsequently bought that house in 2019 and now considers herself a permanent fixture

in town. A University of California, Santa Barbara graduate in English, Winterhalter has

had a diverse career spanning being a  business owner, sports apparel, technology,

marketing, and mortgage banking, where she spent 15 years before retiring. She has

been actively involved in the community, including serving on the board of the

Summerland Citizens Association and other local organizations. An avid tennis player

since she was nine, bad knees forced her to hang up her racquet five years ago in

exchange for a pickleball paddle (she’s gone to the dark side!) and golf clubs (a sport

she vowed never to play when she was young!) She also enjoys walking her dog,

Stoli—affectionately known as “the Mayor of Summerland” — who is well known around

town for stopping into local shops to collect treats. She’s even known to stop the UPS

truck for more treats!

Originally from eastern Montana, she later made her way to Santa Barbara, where she built a career practicing family law for more than 30 years. Mathison is deeply connected to Summerland and appreciates its beauty, especially the ocean views she enjoys each day from her home. She feels grateful to be part of such a special place.

Sharon Curry moved to Summerland in 2013 after a long career in education in Los Angeles. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she attended Long Island University and California State University, Los Angeles, and spent more than 30 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she sat in many seats, from elementary school teacher to a high level administrative position supervising 100 schools. After visiting Santa Barbara for a wedding, she knew she would one day call the area home. Today, she enjoys the welcoming community and relaxed lifestyle of Summerland, and shares her home with her three dogs. She has also always had a longtime passion for animal rescue.

She attended the University of Hawai‘i and worked as a special events and restaurant manager for the Honolulu Museum of Art. Since 2020, she has managed the home and lifestyle boutique Porch Summerland, where she enjoys being part of the town’s vibrant local business community.
